Workshop: Ink painting - flowers
May 4 | 13:00 – 15:00
Ink is a colour-intensive material suitable for everyone - the technique is simple and playful but with great potential for more advanced exploration. We will paint flowers with liquid acrylic ink in all colours using water and brush on watercolour paper.
During the workshop, Malin talks about ink painting and shows her painting technique, which is inspired by East Asian ink painting. Malin goes through the materials, brushwork and gives examples of different shapes, lines and composition. After the introduction, there is plenty of time for painting and experimenting, we are inspired by living flowers and everyone gets individual tips.
About the course leader
"For me, ink painting is about physical brushstrokes, heart over brain and capturing a feeling."
I read, listen and close my eyes - travelling to Hildasholm in my mind, into the garden, the space of freedom. I hear water in the distance, moving between tree shapes, flower beds and hidden rooms. Who are you Hilda, you have built a nest in my head. With ink, water and brush I paint what speaks to me, flowers, needles and reflections.
Malin Björklund trained at Norwich University of the Arts and is an artist and pattern designer. Her art is influenced by the sensitivity of East Asian ink painting and its use of space.
